Office of the Spokesperson

Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins will travel to Romania from November 12-14.

While in Romania, she will lead the U.S. Delegation for the Global Forum to Prevent Radiological and Nuclear Terrorism (Global FTPRNT).  The Global FTPRNT fills a current gap in international fora to address radiological and nuclear terrorism since all official activities under the United States and Russian Federation co-chaired Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism were paused in 2022 following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.  Discussions at Global FTPRNT will include cooperation to improve the detection, response, and mitigation to a radiological event.  Under Secretary Jenkins will also provide opening remarks on the impact of emerging technologies to combat nuclear and radiological terrorism.
