Marco Rubio, Secretary of State

On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my best wishes to the Namibian people as they celebrate the 35th anniversary of their independence.

Today is a moment to celebrate Namibia's past and, specifically, your nation's hard-fought journey to becoming a vibrant, strong, and independent democracy. March 21st – and the concurrent inauguration of a new Administration – is also an occasion to celebrate Namibia's bright future, one built on opportunity, prosperity, and innovation. The United States' commitment to partnering with Namibia to achieve this vision remains unwavering.

Congratulations to all Namibians on this important and joyous day.
